Admissions Criteria
Although we are dedicated to helping as many youth as possible, SunHawk Academy adolescent residential treatment center does have some Admissions Criteria. Please contact us if you have any questions about these criteria, which are outlined below:
SunHawk is licensed for 72 students ages 13 through 17. We accept students in this age group who have problems relating to family, community, educational, and personal/emotional functioning. These may include poor interpersonal communication, running away from home, being physically aggressive, adolescent substance abuse, stealing, sexual promiscuity, academic difficulties involving negative behaviors or poor performance, depression, low self-esteem, and a variety or other destructive behaviors.

Exclusionary Criteria
SunHawk Academy of Utah, Inc. does not admit students with any of the following: severe psychiatric disorders that are in need of hospitalization, physical handicaps which limit their ability to participate in all aspects of our programs, intelligence quotients (IQ) below 80, medical illness (including diabetes, epilepsy, or food allergies requiring highly specialized diets), chronic violent behavior that may endanger the student and others in the group environment, and pregnancy.
